Political class |The use of covers is mandatory

Without entering controversies, the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) enforced its freedom to decide and left all its schools, faculties and institutes to determine if they return to face -to -face classes or continue remotely. In this way he avoided confrontation with President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, who a few days ago expressed his desire that all school panthers in the country, of all levels, return to the normality of the face -to -face classes.
However, that decision of the UNAM about how to avoid more contagions of Covid, implies an obvious disagreement with the federal health authorities, in particular with the so-called "Tsar" of the Pandemia, Undersecretary Hugo López-Gatell, whogrants little value to the use of covers.
The University determined that "the use of covers is mandatory in all closed or confined spaces and natural ventilation should be sought through doors and windows".
It was also recommended, covering nose and mouth with the internal angle of the arm or with a disposable handkerch.
The decision of the university authorities will enter into force next Monday, January 31.
Judge forces to vaccinate children
Another setback for health authorities comes from the Judiciary.A Federal Court ordered the Government of the Republic to apply the first anticovid vaccines to two 6 and 11-year-old children, who will receive the Pfizer-Bionntech biological.
The judgment comes from the Fourth Collegiate Court in administrative matters, which granted the protection to the two minors, after authorities determined that their health is not applied if said vaccine is applied. The Court's decision is based on the opinions of doctors Joaquín Alejandro Zúñiga Ramos, director of the area of the National Institute of Respiratory Diseases and Francisco Moreno Sánchez, head of Internal Medicine and coordinator of the COVID-19 program at the ABC Medical Center.
In addition, the magistrates took into account that the United States Food and Medicines Administration (FDA), authorized the emergency use of the Pfizer-Bionntech vaccine, to include children from five to 11 years of age.In the next few days, the federal authorities must set date and time to proceed to vaccinate the minors.
Bad news for Quintana Roo
Due to the high levels of contagios of COVID-19, the state of Quintana Roo, reversing its epidemiological traffic light and currently it is orange, which obviously is bad news for the vast majority of its inhabitants who live from tourism, forwhich this season is one of the best, as tourists from the cold places of the United States and Canada arrive.
That change was the decision of the local authorities, but the worst comes from abroad, since the United States General Consulate in Mérida issued a security alert for US citizens who visit Quintana Roo, so they are asked for greater caution.
This after last Friday a firearm attack was reported against three Canadian tourists in Xcaret, two of whom died.
The judicial authorities have revealed that at least one of the victims was linked to drug trafficking, but that does not mean relief, because the alert is in force and the consequence is a decrease in the number of visitors.
