8% of Spanish companies already use Artificial Intelligence
The compass Use of digital technologies by companies in Spain, prepared by the National Observatory dey (ONTSI), offers an analysis of the adoption of different technologies by companies in our country. In this analysis, certain interesting data are obtained, such as the fact that big data is already present in 11% of Spanish companies, 28% use IoT or 52% of companies have an internal electronic data exchange system (ERP) and 42% external (CRM).
Implementation of emerging technologies
Spanish companies have made progress in the digital transformation of their businesses in 2021, increasing the use of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, data analysis, cloud computing and the internet of things.
Companies with artificial intelligence systems increased 1.3 percentage points in the last year, from 7% in 2020 to 8.3% in 2021. The use of big data analysis also evolves compared to 2020: more than 11% used this type of technology compared to 8% the previous year. The goal for 2025 is that one in four Spanish organizations have incorporated these technologies into their activity.
In addition, 32% of Spanish companies declared having used cloud services in 2021, which represents a growth of 4 percentage points compared to the previous year.
As for the internet of things, the technology that interconnects objects and devices through a network, the growth has been much more important, of 11 percentage points, which means going from almost 17% in 2020 to about 28%. in 2021.
Electronic data interchange and other technologies
Other technologies that have experienced significant growth are systems for electronic data interchange. The companies that used this type of exchange within the company (ERP) were 45% of the total in 2019. In two years, the growth has been more than 6 percentage points, to reach in 2021 about 52%. The exchange of data with suppliers and customers (CRM) has also advanced, going from just over 35% in 2019 to 42% in 2021.
The use of the electronic signature, meanwhile, is widespread among companies: just over eight out of ten (82%) used it in 2021. Almost seven out of 10 companies also used social networks (67% ), more than 3 percentage points above 2020.
When it comes to e-commerce, one in four companies made sales through e-commerce that year, which is 2 percentage points more than in 2019.
"Accelerating the digitization of companies is one of the ten strategic axes of the 2025 Digital Agenda, being a key element for increasing their productivity, their competitiveness and their future profitability," said the director of ONTSI, Lucía Velasco.
